History

The Foundation created the Folklore Museum with the purpose of keeping the island’s material and social memory accessible to residents, students and visitors.

Mission

Its work connects research, collections and education, drawing on the legacy of Nikolaos Dimitriou and his study of traditional Samian life and architecture.

Cultural work

The museum, educational programmes and related cultural activity introduce younger generations to local history, craft and the lived experience of the island.
